Dry brushing is a proven method of exfoliating massage. When brushing, we remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. Unlike traditional exfoliation, brushing is done dry.

How do you perform dry brushing in your own home? Here are some steps and points to bear in mind:

✅ To begin, remove your clothes and make sure your skin is completely dry (some people like to lubricate the brush with a little oil)

✅ Trace the circulatory system with the brush. Starting from the feet, move up section by section until you have massaged the whole legs, all the way to the sacrum.

✅ Then exfoliate the arms, also from the hands towards the heart. Take extra care when brushing the skin under the arms and any areas with lymph nodes.

✅ The abdomen can be brushed in long upwards movements to the heart or in circular motions.

✅ For the neck and décolletage, start from the jawline and move down. Be even gentler on these areas.

✅ Contour each area 2 - 10 times. The pressure should be quite firm and vigorous, the movements long, smooth and rhythmic. Shorter and faster movements can be used on smaller areas such as flexions and joints.

✅ After the body has been massaged dry, everything should be washed off in the shower. No more scrubs or other irritating cosmetics should be used.

✅ After washing in the shower, lubricate the body thoroughly with oil or lotion.

The dry brushing process can be repeated as often as your body allows. You need to choose the frequency of the massage individually. Some people can dry brush every day, while those with more sensitive skin should stick to brushing once or twice a week.

Never use this method on wounds, sunburn, rashes, eczema, psoriasis or irritated skin.
