The Venus Optics Laowa 58mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is a full-frame manual-focus macro lens designed for cameras with the Canon RF mount, featuring a 40.9º angle of view and a 2:1 magnification ratio.
Apochromatic Optical Design
Its apochromatic (APO) optical system comprises 14 elements arranged in 11 groups. Incorporating 3 low-dispersion (ED) glass elements and 3 Ultra-High Refractive Index elements, it suppresses chromatic aberrations and optical distortion both in and out of the focus plane.
2:1 Reproduction and Versatility
The lens allows focusing continuously from 2x magnification up to infinity, with a minimum focusing distance of 18.5 cm. Beyond macro and product photography, its focal length and 40.9º field of view make it suitable for portraits. The 13-blade circular aperture produces smooth circular bokeh from highlight points.
Internal Focusing and Handling
Using Internal Focusing technology, all optical movements occur entirely inside the housing. The physical length of the lens remains constant during focusing, maintaining balance and reducing the risk of dust entering the body. The front accepts standard 67 mm screw-on filters.
