The Yongnuo YN 25mm f/1.7 M is a fast, compact prime lens designed for mirrorless cameras with a Micro 4/3 mount, such as models from Panasonic and Olympus. Offering a focal length equivalent to 50 mm on full-frame cameras, its field of view is close to that of the human eye, making it well suited for portraiture, street photography, landscapes, night shots, and video recording.
Optical Design and Fast Aperture
The optical system features 7 elements arranged in 6 groups, including one aspherical element and two ED (extra-low dispersion) lenses. This design reduces chromatic aberrations and maintains uniform sharpness across the frame. The wide f/1.7 aperture facilitates low-light shooting and produces smooth background blur (bokeh), while the 7 rounded aperture blades create 14-point starburst effects around point light sources when stopped down.
Autofocus and Handling
- STM Stepping Motor: provides fast, quiet, and precise focusing for both photography and filmmaking.
- AF/MF Switch: enables immediate switching between automatic and manual focus, with manual ring adjustments supported in AF mode.
- Customizable Fn Button: allows quick access to a user-assigned function directly from the camera menu without opening settings.
- Lightweight Build: weighs only 150 g (without lens cap) and uses a standard 52 mm front filter thread.
